Roughly 16 hours after clinching the National League pennant for the first time in 15 years, the Mets returned home, still sporting smiles that could stretch from LaGuardia to O’Hare.
After a little sleep and a lot of celebrating, David Wright still felt like he was dreaming. It didn’t seem real — the Mets are going to the World Series.
“It’s just an incredible feeling,” Wright said Thursday afternoon outside Citi Field. “I don’t think it’s quite hit me yet, but when I get back [home] and relax, sit on the couch and it finally hits you, I’m sure it’ll be a big smile on my face.
