NEW YORK -- New York Mets outfielder Juan Lagares appeared in a pair of weekend games for Aguilas Cibaenas in the Dominican Republic.
Lagares started in center field in both games. He went 1-for-6 with one RBI, one walk, two strikeouts, a stolen base and a sacrifice bunt.
Doctors determined that Lagares did not require offseason surgery for a ligament issue in his right elbow. Manager Terry Collins had suggested during the season that Tommy John surgery night be required for the center fielder.
“He was checked out again,” assistant GM John Ricco said during last month's GM Meetings.
