The Mets’ front office shakeup continued on Friday as J.P. Ricciardi and the team decided to part ways.
Ricciardi worked alongside Omar Minaya and John Ricco as a trio of acting decision-makers last season after Sandy Alderson stepped away to deal with the return of his cancer.
Brodie Van Wagenen was named the Mets general manager earlier this month and opted to promote Minaya to a more prominent role underneath him. Ricciardi was brought in under Alderson when he was first hired in 2010.
“I want to express my gratitude to Fred and Jeff [Wilpon] for giving me the opportunity to spend the last eight years in New York,” Ricciardi said in a statement.
