PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Left-handed reliever Josh Edgin underwent Tommy John surgery late last spring training. And the New York Mets are eyeing a May 1 return to the majors.
Right now, Edgin is looking to get over a mental hurdle in his rehab process from the ligament-replacement procedure. Edgin is currently throwing fastballs off a mound -- although at less than full throttle -- at Mets camp. He is trying to tune out thinking about his elbow, because doing so is affecting his mechanics.
Edgin suggested that his arm was "lagging behind" during a session off a mound at Mets camp on Monday.
