The Mets Saturday put Jose Reyes on the disabled list and signed center fielder Justin Ruggiano to replace him. Ruggiano will start the night game against the Rockies.
Reyes has an intercostal strain, one of those new-fangled injuries that players seem to get these days.
The Rangers released Ruggiano earlier this week. The 34-year-old veteran has spent most of the season in the minors, where he hit a paltry .226 with seven home runs. He will not be the answer to the Mets scoring problems.
