PHOENIX — Asdrubal Cabrera is out, Jose Reyes is in and Amed Rosario remains stashed at Triple-A Las Vegas awaiting his promotion to the Mets.
With Cabrera’s sprained left thumb sore to the point he was unavailable to pinch hit in the Mets’ previous two games, the team on Tuesday placed the veteran shortstop on the disabled list, ensuring Reyes an opportunity to assume everyday duties at his natural position.
Rosario, the future shortstop, is regarded as the organization’s top prospect, but team officials want him receiving more reps at Triple-A, a level to which he just ascended at the beginning of the season.
