Jon Stewart is going out on top — and the Mets are right with him.
The “Daily Show” host excitedly celebrated his favorite baseball team’s NL East ascension on the penultimate episode of the late-night show. Stewart finished his monologue by lamenting the Mets’ recent struggles in old clips before finishing it with a look at the current glorious standings.
Stewart isn’t the first funnyman to notice the Mets’ rise. Not long after after the Mets traded for Yoenis Cespedes before Friday’s trade deadline, Jerry Seinfeld sent out this tweet.
Two days — and two wins — later, Cespedes responded with a call for Seinfeld to come to Citi Field.
