NEW YORK -- New York Mets manager Terry Collins now believes that left-hander Jon Niese will avoid missing a game during the National League Championship Series.
Niese had a death in his family on Friday night. He will travel home to his native Ohio after Sunday's game and is expected to rejoin the Mets in time for Tuesday's Game 3 against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Collins originally indicated that Niese may miss at least part of a game during the NLCS.
Niese, a starter during the regular season, has worked out of the bullpen during the postseason.
