Joe McEwing emerges as Mets managerial candidate

Former-Met Joe McEwing is a candidate to replace manager Terry Collins, who the team is expected to part ways with after the season, reports Mike Puma of the NY Post.

McEwing, 44, is currently the third base coach for the Chicago White Sox, who he has been with since 2012.

After retiring in 2006, McEwing became the hitting coach for the Charlotte Knights in 2008. In 2009, he became manager of the White Sox' A-ball affiliate, the Winston-Salem Dash, and was named Manager of the Year.

McEwing played for the Mets from 2000 to 2004.
