The Mets didn’t hire Joe Girardi as their new manager, and now he might be poaching their hitting coach in his new gig in Philadelphia.
Chili Davis, a teammate of Girardi’s on the Yankees’ championship teams in 1998 and 1999, is one of three candidates being considered for the Phillies’ hitting coach position, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

The Phillies reportedly also have interviewed Matt Stairs, who served in that capacity for them in 2017, and they’ve received permission to interview Nationals assistant hitting coach Joe Dillon.
