CLEVELAND — Jeurys Familia’s arrest on domestic violence charges has added another layer of uncertainty to a potentially volatile Mets offseason.
With Yoenis Cespedes planning to opt out from his contract, much of the rotation recovering from surgery and the Mets facing decisions on key players such as Neil Walker and Lucas Duda, the bullpen could now be an area of concern.
Major League Baseball has enforced a zero-tolerance policy toward domestic violence cases recently, making it almost certain the Mets closer, if guilty, would be facing a suspension in 2017.
According to a police report, Familia’s alleged victim – who was not named – had a scratch to the chest and bruise to the right cheek.
