Mets lefthanded reliever Jerry Blevins will have surgery next week in Boston on the distal radius bone in his left arm, the team announced on Thursday.
Blevins originally fractured the bone after getting hit by a line drive in a game on April 19. Blevins had recently resumed throwing, but the Mets said he slipped while stepping off a curb on Monday night and re-fractured the same bone.
The Mets said it is "unlikely" Blevins will return to play this season.
Blevins is 1-0 and has not allowed a run in five innings pitched in seven games this season.
