Jenrry Mejia is digging in and sadly securing his fate

In a perverse way, you have to give Jenrry Mejia credit. The man cannot be overestimated. Just when you think he has reached a low point, he powers up and digs deeper.

But Mejia came off as quite a likable guy during his time with the Mets, so Friday’s theater of the absurd in Queens, fittingly enough, just felt sad.

The disgraced reliever held a news conference in the Long Island City offices of his new attorney, Vincent White, to announce that he’s working with the Major League Baseball Players Association on reopening the case that has him currently serving a lifetime suspension for illegal performance-enhancing drug usage.
