Jeff McNeil’s rehab plan takes hit due to weather

Jeff McNeil (hamstring) joined the Mets’ Triple-A Syracuse team at Lehigh Valley on Thursday for a rehab assignment, though it was short-lived because of the weather. The All-Star was set to play five to seven innings in the corner-outfield spots, but had to settle for one at-bat — he got hit by a pitch, stole second and scored — before the game was suspended by rain. He is eligible to come off the injured list Saturday.

“We want to see him ranging and running down balls, just to make sure he’s totally healthy,” Mickey Callaway said Wednesday before the Mets faced the Indians.
