NEW YORK — Jeff McNeil fractured his right wrist when he was hit by a pitch and will miss the rest of the regular season, the New York Mets announced Saturday.
McNeil was struck on a protective guard covering his wrist by a 74.3 mph curveball from Cincinnati's Brandon Williamson during the fifth inning of New York's 6-4 win in extra innings Friday night.
McNeil played second base in the sixth but his wrist swelled up and he had difficulty taking swings in the batting cage. Harrison Bader pinch hit for him in the bottom half of the inning.
