After Carlos Mendoza announced yesterday that Jeff McNeil fractured his wrist in Friday night’s game, today the Mets officially placed McNeil on the 10-Day Injured List, retroactive to September 7th. In his place, the Mets recalled D.J. Stewart from Triple-A Syracuse.
McNeil, who after an incredibly slow start to the season had been fantastic since the All-Star Break, is likely to miss the rest of the season after being hit on the wrist by the Reds’ Brandon Williamson. In his stead, José Igelsias will be the every day second baseman, with Pablo Reyes as his backup.
