Jeff McNeil has been diagnosed with a low-grade right oblique strain and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. The infielder will avoid baseball activities for the next 7-10 days and will not be available for Opening Day. The news comes just days after the club learned they would be without Francisco Alvarez for 6-8 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a broken bone in his left hand.

McNeil is coming off a year in which he finished with a 1.3 fWAR while slashing .238/.308/.384 and a 97 wRC+, his second-lowest in a full season.
