According to Matt Ehalt of Yahoo Sports, infielder Jed Lowrie will not be joining the New York Mets in Washington this week. Despite earlier reports, Lowrie isn’t ready to make his 2019 MLB debut.
The weather threw a monkey wrench into the team’s original plan to bring Lowrie back for this critical series with the Washington Nationals. The Syracuse Mets were rained out on Sunday and Monday so Lowrie wasn’t able to get the extra work he feels he needs.
Signing Lowrie, 35, was one of the biggest moves general manager Brodie Van Wagenen made during this past offseason.
