J.D. Davis has earned himself a more consistent spot in the Mets’ starting lineup of late.
But his big-time hits don’t stop when he comes off the bench.
Davis delivered in the clutch Tuesday, pinch hitting in the seventh inning and crushing a three-run home run to the opposite field. It came immediately after the Nationals had taken the lead, and he gave the Mets their first lead of the night before they eventually won it 6-5 on Amed Rosario’s walk-off single in the ninth.
“We’re resilient, especially right now,” Davis said. “I know it’s only two wins, but a big two wins for us right now.
