The power is beginning to come for Jayce Boyd. His patience is paying off, too.
The leftfielder was promoted to Mets Triple-A affiliate Las Vegas on May 29 and went 6-for-24 (.250) with no extra-base hits and two walks in his first eight games.
But Boyd is 6-for-19 (.315) with three doubles and five walks in his last seven games, including going 1-for-4 with a double in Monday's 6-4 win over Salt Lake. The 51s are 36-29 and in first place in the Pacific Coast League Pacific Southern.
The righthanded-hitting Boyd was a sixth-round pick in 2012.
