Jay Bruce won’t be slumping through pain any longer.
The Mets placed the right fielder on the 10-day disabled list on Tuesday, retroactive to June 18, with a sore right hip. Reliever Tim Peterson was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to replace him and will be available for Tuesday night’s game in Colorado.
Bruce, 31, has been dealing with a number of injuries this season, most notably the plantar fasciitis in his left foot that has ailed him since spring training. The recent back and hip pain has kept him out of the starting lineup in four of the Mets’ last five games, including Monday night’s 12-2 win over the Rockies.
