The guy who was supposed to be insurance against any of the Mets young starters getting injured is himself among the walking wounded; Jason Vargas has a broken bone in his hand.
The good news is it’s not his pitching hand. The bad news, is, well, he has a broken bone in his hand.
Vargas suffered a non-displaced fracture in his right hand when he was hit by a line drive during a game on Saturday. He is set to visit a specialist on Sunday to assess the damage and figure out what to do next.
