PITTSBURGH — Jacob deGrom can go ahead and swap the No. 48 on his back for a big fat zero, in honor of the support he’s received from the Mets this season.
The absurdity is reaching new levels with each start by the All-Star pitcher, who in all fairness began to resemble less and less of his ace self as Saturday night’s game progressed.
DeGrom’s night went straight to “L” as he was allowing two runs in the seventh in the Mets’ 5-0 loss to the Pirates at PNC Park.
The Mets (43-59) lost their second straight, in a toothless attack against George Williams and the Pirates bullpen.
