KANSAS CITY, Mo. — You wouldn’t really know it to look at his results, but Jacob deGrom hasn’t been as sharp for much of this postseason as he was during the regular season.
That’s why the Mets opted to give him an extra day of rest before his start in Game 2 of the World Series on Wednesday at Kauffman Stadium, as manager Terry Collins said he believed a tired arm contributed to the right-hander’s lack of command in his last two postseason outings.
“For me, that is that release point, that consistent release point you have to make the pitches,” Collins said.
