ESPN’s Michael Wilbon thinks Jacob deGrom shouldn’t win the CY Young award because of his record.
On “Pardon the Interruption,” Wilbon and co-host Tony Kornheiser discussed if deGrom would finish second in NL Cy Young voting during the “Over and Under” segment.
Kornheiser argued that deGrom should win because he has the lowest ERA in the league, saying he sides with sabermetrics despite deGrom not having nearly as many wins — a more old-school metric — as Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer and Phillies stud Aaron Nola.
Wilbon, an analytics truther, told Kornheiser his take was “garbage.
