The energy in Citi Field during the Mets’ doubleheader sweep over the Miami Marlins was electric, especially for one Marlins family.
Isan Diaz made his MLB debut in the opener and his family was being interviewed on the Marlins’ brodcast when the 23-year-old drilled a home run off Mets ace Jacob deGrom.
“Oh! OHHHHHH! OHHHHH! OHHHHH! OHHHHHHH! OHHHHHHH! OHHHHHHHH! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! OHHHHHHH,” Isan’s father exclaimed from his seat. “OHHHHHHHHHHHH! OHHHHHHHHHHHH! OHHHHHHHHH! IIIIIIISAAAAAAAAN! IIIIIIIISAAAAAAAAAN! IIIIIIISAAAAAAAN! ISAN DIAAAAZ!”
Diaz went 0-for-2 against deGrom in his first two at-bats. On his third try on a 1-2 count, Diaz slammed a pitch to right-center.
