Is Rene Rivera a Matt Harvey coincidence or answer?

The results weren’t the only thing different for Matt Harvey on Memorial Day. So was the catcher.

For the first time this season, veteran backstop Rene Rivera was behind the plate instead of Kevin Plawecki or Travis d’Arnaud.

Manager Terry Collins said starting Rivera was nothing more than giving Plawecki a breather during a day game after a night game.

“This morning I came in and said, ‘I want Rene to catch today,’ ” Collins said after the Mets’ 1-0 victory over the White Sox at Citi Field. “That is how much thought went into it.
