Jurickson Profar is only 31 years old, but he’s lived quite a few baseball lives already. From a highly touted middle infield prospect for the Rangers to a super utility man for the Athletics to most recently a left fielder for the Padres, Profar has continued to reinvent himself. At this stage in his career, when his defense, even in left field, is suspect, Profar’s bat is more potent than ever.
Would that make Profar a candidate to replace J.D. Martinez as the Mets’ designated hitter?
There are some caveats here: Profar’s 2024 was superb, but it was the first time he’s ever really lived up to his hype as a batter.
