NEW YORK -- Infielder Matt Reynolds is due to be promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas for the New York Mets' series opener against the Washington Nationals, a source told ESPN.com.
Reynolds has yet to play in a major league game, but he did appear on the NLDS and NLCS rosters after Ruben Tejada suffered a fractured right leg during Game 2 of the opening round.
Reynolds' promotion was made possible in part because Steven Matz received favorable news about his left forearm during an examination at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan on Monday.
