In the first round of last week's MLB Draft, the Mets used their first to pick to select Boston College RHP Justin Dunn, who was born in Freeport, New York, and attended The Gunnery in Washington, Connecticut.
"I grew up in New York. I grew up a Mets fan. I know the Mets," Dunn's college coach, Mike Gambino, told MLB.com. "Mets fans are going to love this kid."
Including Dunn, the Mets took 16 college students out of the 19 players they drafted.
"We selected all college players not by design, just by how the Draft fell," the team's scouting director, Tommy Tanous, later explained to reporters.
