If Miami Marlins fire Mike Redmond, this Mets coach could be new manager

The 2015 season has started so poorly for the Miami Marlins that they are reportedly considering firing manager Mike Redmond, the Miami Herald reports. The Marlins are 3-10 after being swept by the Mets.

The Herald reports a surprising name could be atop the Marlins' manager search-list:

According to sources who have heard rumblings, Redmond is on the hot seat and the the organization is already bouncing around possible replacements. One possibility: Wally Backman, the Mets' Triple A manager.

Backman has been a manager in the Mets minor league system since 2010 and has headed the Triple-A team for the past two seasons.
