John Ricco, who is assuming decision-making duties along with J.P. Ricciardi and Omar Minaya due to Sandy Alderson's leave of absence, is ready to be the GM of the Mets.
Prior to joining the Mets when Minaya replaced Steve Phillips in 2004, Ricco worked in the Commissioner's office and also served as interim GM before the team hired Sandy Alderson. In addition to spending close to 15 years with the organization, he grew up in New Jersey and continues to be a local guy that knows the market, fans and ownership.
"John is super organized, always prepared, he's affable and patient and he listens more than he talks," a rival team executive that has dealt with Ricco recently told me.
