The Texas Rangers are turning to former Mets and Yankees slugger Todd Frazier as insurance should they strike out on a trade for Colorado Rockies superstar Nolan Arenado.
Frazier, who spent his last three seasons in New York, signed a one-year, $5 million deal with the Rangers on Saturday, according to multiple reports. The Dallas Morning News first reported an agreement had been reached.
The signing comes as the Rangers have been entrenched in trade talks with the Rockies for Arenado over the last month. They still are expected to pursue Arenado, and could move Frazier to first base if they pull it off, MLB network reported.
