More than halfway through the inaugural season of the Overwatch League, a global esports league founded in 2016 that pits 12 city-affiliated teams against each other, Jeff Wilpon’s franchise, New York Excelsior (NYXL), has become the team to beat.
Just this past Sunday, Wilpon, COO of the Mets and partner of Sterling Equities, earned bragging rights over Patriots owner Robert Kraft when NYXL’s nine South Korean players thrashed Kraft’s team, Boston Uprising, in the Stage 3 finals.
