How Juan Lagares made Terry Collins look like a genius

Mets manager Terry Collins had a hunch Juan Lagares would make the most of his start against the Rockies Tuesday night at Citi Field.

Channeling his inner Ben Crenshaw at the 1999 Ryder Cup when he correctly predicted victory, Collins didn’t point a finger into the camera, but he did have a good feeling about his beleaguered outfielder.

“I fully expect a big game out of him because I think he has something to prove,” Collins had said a few hours before the game.

Lagares made Collins a prophet by swinging the biggest bat in the Mets’ 4-0 win over the Rockies before 25,611 happy customers.
