MIAMI — Even for a veteran like David Wright, jitters couldn’t be avoided Sunday.
The Mets captain was back in game action for the first time in nearly a year, going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in five innings at third base for Single-A St. Lucie at Clearwater. Wright did not have a grounder hit to him, but caught a pop-up.
“I felt like I got here so early that I was counting down the minutes — I wanted to get it going,” Wright told media, including SNY after his rehab appearance. “It was good to get out there and hopefully the results will come, but for now it was getting three at-bats.
