The 2024 Subway Series kicked off tonight, and if you had asked most of us a month ago, we probably would not have expected much to look forward to in this matchup. The Yankees were well on their way to yet another dominant season while the Mets were one of the laughing stocks of baseball. But then Grimace threw out the first pitch, the Mets went on a role, and now they’ve entered the series looking at least a little bit more evenly paced with the Bronx Bombers. And for tonight at least, they were the better team, as four home runs led the Amazins to a 9-7 win to start the two-game series at Citi Field.
