Matt Harvey will get a chance to make amends on Tuesday.
Two days after the worst outing of his career, the Mets’ former ace threw a simulated game and got the green light from manager Terry Collins to make his return to the mound on normal rest in Washington, where Harvey will face the first-place team that lit him up for a career-high nine runs in a career-low 2 ²/u2083 innings Thursday night.
Collins had considered starting Harvey on short rest Monday, given the right-hander threw just 61 pitches in his last outing.
“He’s confident, he feels good about what happened today,” Collins said following the Mets’ 5-4 win over the Brewers.
