LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Matt Harvey's spring debut wasn't as dramatically good as his previous highs as a Major League pitcher, nor as dramatically bad as his stumble last September. It was simply a decent start for a pitcher who needs spring success as much as anyone.
Dialing his fastball as high as 96 mph, Harvey allowed a run on two hits and a walk, striking out two -- both looking, both on fastballs -- against the Braves at Champion Stadium.
Throwing 38 pitches, Harvey ramped up his velocity more consistently as his outing progressed, hitting 95 mph four times during his final batter of the game.
