Harvey approaching the mark for innings in return season from Tommy John surgery

Matt Harvey talks about going 7 2/3 strong innings shutting down the Cubs to give the Mets a 1-0 lead in the NLCS.

Matt Harvey exceeded his doctor-recommended limit of 185 innings pitched two weeks ago, and with Saturday’s 7 2/3-innings start, he is up to 202 innings this season (including the postseason).

It is the fifth-most innings by a pitcher in the season of his return from Tommy John surgery.

The pitchers ahead of Harvey on that list aren’t slouches: Tommy John himself in 1976, Jake Westbrook in 2010, Adam Wainwright in 2012 and John Lackey in 2013.
