LOS ANGELES — There is a certain symmetry to all of this for Terry Collins. At age 66 he is finally managing in the postseason, beginning with a series against the Dodgers, the organization in which he spent so many years preparing for this opportunity.
“I owe the fact that I’m sitting here to the Dodgers," Collins said on Friday. “It was a great organization to come up in and learn the game. It was special, really."
It was a time that is gone now, a time when Peter O’Malley owned the team and ran it with a family atmosphere perhaps unlike any other in baseball.
