Recently an American League scout was talking about how unpredictable Yoenis Cespedes can be as a hitter, which is why he didn’t think Mets GM Sandy Alderson would deal for him at the trading deadline.
“He’s a dynamic player but he doesn’t fit Sandy’s offensive philosophy," the scout said. “He’s such a free-swinger that he’ll drive you crazy at times because he can look so bad chasing pitches.
“But he’s also a true game-changer who gets big hits. I think he’s fearless in big situations. The A’s just weren’t the same after Billy (Beane) traded him last year.
