Harper: Mets' Collins says new rule dangerous for infielders

PORT ST. LUCIE — Terry Collins, an old middle infielder, was just hearing about Major League Baseball’s new slide rule at second base, and with it what amounts to an abolishment of the neighborhood play.

And while Collins’ first said he’d prefer to wait for an official explanation from MLB before commenting, the Mets manager is rarely one to stifle a strong opinion.

So he couldn’t help but offer this blunt take: “Somebody’s going to get their clock cleaned."

Not exactly a slogan that MLB is looking to adopt as a way to introduce its rule change, but Collins makes a good point.
