Harper: Harvey could be top pitcher in MLB, says Warthen

PORT ST. LUCIE - You can make a case that Jacob deGrom is the ace of the Mets’ dazzling young starting rotation, or that Noah Syndergaard might have the most potential. But pitching coach Dan Warthen leaves no doubt he still reserves the top spot for Matt Harvey .

Terry Collins mentioned on Friday that he sees a significant difference already in Harvey a second year removed from Tommy John surgery, and on Saturday Warthen took it a step farther, saying Harvey could be “the best pitcher in baseball” this season.

Yes, he’s heard of Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke.
