CHICAGO — Don’t get the wrong idea. The Mets understand that players who can hit like Daniel Murphy aren’t easy to come by, and they’re very aware the power show he is putting on in this postseason only reinforces the value he provides.
Furthermore, as more than one person in the organization told me on Monday, this isn’t the time to be fretting over whether Murphy will be back next year and beyond.
“Geez, we’re trying to beat the Cubs and go to the World Series," was the way one such person put it. “Isn’t that enough right now?
