Griffin Canning to miss tomorrow’s start with illness

Related Topics: Griffin Canning, Justin Hagenman

Mets’ starter Griffin Canning has been scratched from his Wednesday start against the Twins due to an undisclosed illness. New York has not yet announced a replacement starter.

Justin Hagenman is the likeliest option to replace Canning, as he is both on the 40-man roster and would be on regular rest. The right-handed has posted a 6.97 ERA in 10 13 innings for Triple-A Syracuse this season. He’s struck out 12 batters, walked four, and served up four home runs this year. The Mets have not yet placed Jose Siri on the IL, so that will likely be the move to get their new starter up for Wednesday.
