Sunday night with the Royals in position to win the World Series.
As exciting as that sounds, there is a void in the right-hander’s heart.
“I wish he could be here right now and enjoy every game I pitch,’’ Edinson Volquez, said of his father, Daniel, who died prior to Volquez starting Game 1 on Tuesday. “[Sunday] I am going to be thinking of my mom, and the rest of my family is going to be so happy to see me pitch.’’
Volquez arrived at Citi Field shortly before Game 4, which turned into a 5-3 victory that put the Royals up, 3-1, in the best-of-seven affair.
