The Mets continued reinforcing their 2025 rotation before the new year, adding Sean Manaea on a 3-year, $75M deal. The deal contains deferred money that lowers the present value to right around $66M, implying a $22M AAV for luxury tax calculations. Manaea had previously declined his $14M player option as well as the ~$21M qualifying option, but ultimately returns to his spot at the top of the Mets rotation.
We were generally high on Sean Manaea signing last year, marking the move as an A- on the basis of the medium-to-high reward and low risk.
