ATLANTA — Noah Syndergaard’s strained right hamstring was classified as “low-grade” on Monday, leaving the Mets hopeful the right-hander’s absence from the rotation will be limited to one or two starts.
In the meantime, manager Mickey Callaway wasn’t prepared to reveal who will replace Syndergaard in the rotation, but hinted Wilmer Font is a strong possibility for Thursday against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Font was sharp out of the bullpen Sunday, when he pitched three shutout innings against the Cardinals.
“It makes him very intriguing,” Callaway said before the Mets lost 12-3 to the Braves at SunTrust Park.
