New York Mets RHP Erik Goeddel is close to returning to the mound sooner rather than later after suffering a lat strain, according to ESPN New York's Adam Rubin.
Goeddel, 27, began throwing on flat ground a week ago and threw from 120 feet on Wednesday. He expects to long toss twice more. He is likely to throw from the mound this weekend, according to the New York Post's Mike Puma.
He was cleared by a doctor a week ago, according to the New York Daily News' Kristie Ackert.
